The opening speech was rather dull, to be honest. The Headmaster could sense the boredom from the crop of students in front of him, and thus kept it short and sweet.

"Ehem, now that that's finished, please head to the main gymnasium. You will have a few minutes to mingle with your fellow students, but after that, Coach Leon will explain the concept of The Sorting Games to you. Your luggage will be delivered to your dormitories by the workers here."

With that, he stepped off of the podium, wiping sweat off of his brow; the day was quite hot and humid, and he was overheating in his suit and tie.

Throughout the entire opening ceremony, Renner was doing what he did best -- not pay attention. He went from chatting with the people around him to playing pranks of the women sitting in from of him. It wasn't his fault that they decided to wear a skirt. Wearing a skirt, at least in his mind, meant a woman was dying to have a man check out her undies. The lovely lady in front of him? She was rocking her birthday suit. It was safe to say she wanted to get laid tonight.

After a quick whisper in her ear and a number exchange, Renner kicked back in seat with his smug "victory, bitches" face on. He mouthed aloud to his buddies nearby, "And that's how you score with the ladies" while tossing up his middle fingers. Granted, had any of his friends (might I add they are nowhere near on his level, at least look-wise) tried to pull that stunt they would have been 1) assaulted, 2) removed from the ceremony, 3) expelled from the school, and 4) arrested. Ah yes, the perks of being the sexy bad boy that all the ladies were dying to get with!

In all honesty, Renner could have turned out to be a good kid. He went to Heaven and, had he probably stayed there two years more, he would have been cured of his bad boy way. But, alas, the schools Heaven and Hell decided to merge so Renner was forced to start all over. This, naturally, meant he could go back to being a complete dick because no one knew who he was and he could get away with it.

Renner Casanova, a transfer second year at Brimstone Institute (BI), was a rather gifted man. He had the ability to transform his right arm into an array of weapons. Not only was he good with his fingers (WINK) but he was also good with his tongue (WINK WINK). He was also a pretty smart fellow. He knew his stuff and he knew how to get himself out of most troublesome situations. But it kind of came with the turf. Have you ever met a bad boy who couldn't talk the talk and walk the walk? Wouldn't be much of a bad boy if he couldn't, right? Still, he could have toned his sexual prowess down a bit. Renner, the cocky man that he is, obviously wouldn't do that. He would flaunt his stuff because he knew he could.

Scooting his booty across the chair in a repetitive motion, he showed off to one of the ladies seated one back and down to his right. It was pretty obvious she wanted in on his lap-dance of sorts. A ten-digit number was scribbled down on paper and she politely asked the men beside her to pass it on down to Renner.

Two numbers in less than ten minutes. He was on a roll.

By the time the ceremony was over, Renner had already made out with one lady, got a massage from another, and had five numbers tucked neatly away in his pocket. Would he call any of them? Probably not. They weren't that attractive. But sex was sex and who would seriously pass that up? He even overheard a rumor that two of them were bi. Threesome? Yes, that was on his mind.

The hustle and bustle of students shifting gears and heading the gym gave Renner a chance to scope out the newbies. The room was split so the first year were at the left and, in ascending order, the fifth years were on the right (his right). As he stood there scanning the crowd, he realized most everyone here was a new face to him. Hell, half the school was from Hell. It was no wonder these ladies were so easy to get with. He fit their profile, only he wasn't from their turf.

Just before he took a step toward the gymnasium, he swore he heard a familiar laugh, but he just couldn't put his finger on who it was. With a shoulder shrug, the blonde followed the crowd. Odds were he would bump into someone he knew sooner or later (besides his "friends" but he didn't really like hanging with them as they "cramped his style").

This was not Reyna's idea of fun; normally she didn't mind the entrance ceremonies, but this time she was surrounded by those from the Heaven school as well and this is what bothered her most. The heat was creeping up in the room, this was something most evident to the woman as she peered around at the other students, sweat on their brows; it was not the same for the fifth year as her body was surrounded by a cool aura, literally. The air around the woman was much colder than the poorly circulating air had to offer, which posed as a nice, though not intentional gift to the students sitting directly around her.

With hand folded neatly on the black skirt of her dress that rested just above her knees, the dark haired woman could easily hear that most of the students believed that their own personal lives were more important than what was going on in front of them. That's what keeps them from surpassing me, she thought to herself with a slight nod before a foul mannered action caught her attention. Reyna turned her head back quickly, shooting a glare at an all too pleased male, her eyes not really focusing much on him before she returned to what the Headmaster was saying. Fools think that this will be an easy ride, she thought bitterly to herself.

The constant stream of movements from the other side of the auditorium was driving the woman nuts; neither school was easy to get in and the fact that someone who had made it in was taking the situation lightly was pissing her off. "We'll just have to cool him off later," she muttered under her breath as the Headmaster gave his last few words before heading off.

Standing up, dusting her skirt off, Reyna quickly joined the flow of tired students as they filed out of the room and into the halls that would lead to the gymnasium. The students around her, though many being from her own school, didn't attempt to strike up a conversation with her. Many of the fifth years around her were older than her, but she still outperformed all of them. She shrugged to herself thinking, Well, the cooler hands did prevail. Before a smile crept to her face and the woman laughed at her own joke. Though the scene in and of its self was quite odd, though those that were around her that had attended Hell with her didn't look, as they knew meeting the eyes of the Arctic Ambassador would do no good; in fact, they were trying to urge the students in her direct line of sight to follow what they were doing.

When no one looked around to inquire on her laughter, Reyna simply openly shrugged as she made her way down the hallway. "You'll soon learn not to go out into the blizzard my friends," she warned those around her before laughing again, this time it was a darker laugh, one that wasn't finding what she was saying funny but that it was a warning not to cross the woman.

"RIGHTO, FOLKS, LET'S GET A MOOOOOVE ON!"

Sparks seemed to fly from the young woman as she bounced up and down on her heels, waving her arms as she directed the newbies towards the direction of the gymnasium. "C'mon c'mon, no time to lose!!"

This bouncing ball of energy went by the name of Jeanne Marie, or Jeannie for short. Like she had every year, Jeannie had sat patiently throughout the whole speech; it was quite the task considering that the girl didn't have patience for anything besides training.

"Hey! You!" she called towards a newcomer who looked a bit distracted, "Get moving!"

  5. Characters in this post:
Today was a good day so far. Lastoy was able to get a good nap in, and was able to get to the opening speech on time. Heck, she was even able to get dressed and look rather decent before arriving on that little motorized bike she drove around Heaven's campus with the previous year.

The woman was now awake, her eyes lit up with an excitement as she flitted through crowds of acquaintances and old training buddies. All seemed wary around her, as if she were a ticking time bomb, and seemed to speak to her in a childish manner, but did the young woman notice?

    Not one single bit.

Conversation got boring after a moment, and her eyes shot up to the sky, where she was eyeing a particular dot that seemed to be moving around. Was it a bug? Overly curious, she managed to stand right underneath it, blocking the movement in the hallway. She blinked wildly at it, as if she were trying to send Morse code messages to it, before it spread its wings and flew off. It was then when something- no, someone caught her attention.

There was a call that came from a bouncing girl in the hallway- Was she a girl? Age seemed to be a thing of oddity in these schools. Lastoy had grown to never assume the age of a student at the school of Heaven, but this girl was unfamiliar. Hell, perhaps? She turned her entire body towards the girl, wondering if she was referring to her, but was then commanded to move along. She opened her mouth to say something, but she was then swept away with the crowd still pouring in the direction of the gym.

Something else distracted her, but for only just a bare moment. A laugh with a distinct... evilness seemed to fill the buzzing air, but Lastoy was pulled out of earshot of it moments later.

"Odd." she stated, making a person in front of her turn around. She winced for a moment and then put her hands out, almost defensively. "Sorry! I was talking to myself."

  6. Characters in this post:
Trudy Vines was nodding off at the information desk as she waited for her mother to sort out her registration files. It was obvious that it was a very frustrating task for the woman as most of the forms needed for the registration was left in a neat pile on her bedside table, clipped and sorted, untouched since her mother left it there the night before with strict instructions to put it in her bag so it won't be forgotten the next morning. Oops.

"I swear, True. I told you to bring the file with you, didn't I? I even asked you about it before we drove off in the car, remember?" Mrs Vines mumbled exasperatedly under her breath as she flipped through the files in vain. Trudy, better known as True by dear ones, knew her mother's questions weren't directed at her and needed no answers. But, still, she couldn't help it.

Ever since she could remember, Trudy Vines was gifted by her genes with the ability to sense lies and make people spill out the truth. It had come in handy in her day to day life. As a catch though, she herself cannot utter a single lie and must always, always answer any question given out to her with nothing but the truth.

"Yes, you did. No, I don't remember. Thus, the predicament we're facing now," True replied in almost a bored manner. Her mother managed a glare towards her way before returning to her files. This was getting them no where. The man typing quietly behind the table just two feet away from them were giving them a hard time since they had arrived half an hour ago. They were supposed to meet the Headmaster himself for admission but it was the first day at Brimstone Academy and he had to be present for the opening ceremony. Right, guess I have to take things into my own hands. True walked straight to the man with the orange tie and smiled brightly at him, her eyes twinkling with mischief. He glanced up for two seconds and ignored her as he continued tapping into his keyboard. "Hi. Let's get straight to the point, shall we?" This earned her a raised eyebrow from the man, so she continued."So, tell me an interesting story, will you?"

"I can't believe you used your powers to threaten the man!" Trudy merely raised an eyebrows in response to her mother's exclamation. "Well, okay, so yes, I can believe it," she admitted. Locking into her daughter's eyes, she added, "This stays between us, you understand?"

"Crystal clear," she smiled. "But only if I'm not questioned." True had used her powers to get the man talking about his deepest darkest secret, and too late, after the man realized what he had done, he quietly stamped her admission form and wished her a wondrous year in the Academy through gritted teeth. Somehow it almost seems eerie and cunning, call it instinct or maybe a warning bell by her powers, to her the man's wish of luck almost seems a warning, a bad premonition on her part, but she didn't have the time to dig more out of the guy so she simply let it be.

She parted shortly with her mother then and walked towards the direction where she was told the opening ceremony was being held. Sounds of chairs shuffling against the floor, followed by the thunderous sound of footsteps told her that she was too late for her entry. Unsure of what she should do now, True stood leaning against the wall, letting other students pass before her when suddenly she felt a chill run down her back as a girl with dark black hair walked pass, an echo of a laugh following behind her in the slowly filling hallways. Weird. True finally decided to slip into the crowd, startled by a loud voice calling to the crowd to 'move on'. To where? she thought. She was just about to express her wondering to an audible question just as she heard the person behind her mutter something. As she turned out of curiosity, she was greeted by a pair of green orbs behind transparent lens.

"T'skay. I tend to do that too, sometimes." Okay, that was enough. Polite and friendly, great. Good first impression. But, her lips were twitching and try as she might, True couldn't resist adding some points into her confession. "Well, technically, I was talking to someone, but then one point or another, they'd stop listening. So, it's basically the same as talking to yourself anyway."
She hesitated before continuing, offering her right hand. "Anyway, I'm Trudy Vines. Call me True. Where are we heading to by the way?"

Sitting in the back of the auditorium Mackenzie pulled at his tie and undid the top button of his shirt. He didn't know why he bothered with it in the first place, it only ever lasted a few minutes before he was too uncomfortable. Pale fingers played with the end of his black tie as his dark eyes flitted about the room.

This was it. This was going to be his year. He was finally going to accomplish something. All his hard work, the hours spent in the library and labs studying, staying up way past curfew to practice, it wouldn't go unnoticed this year.

Oblivious to the actual contents of the speech going on the red head glanced around at his new school mates. He recognized some. Others not so much. It wasn't going to be easy, he could see that already. Eyes landed on a ground of boys older than him, causing a ruckus with some of the girls near the front. He shrugged and looked around surprised a bit when the students near him started getting to their feet.

We must have been dismissed... He thought as he shoved his hands into his pockets and started moving with the crowd towards the gymnasium. Like always, Mac was one of the stragglers, bringing up the rear of the group. He caught sight of two girls chatting by the door way. They must have been new, one seemed a bit confused by the order of operations. He offered them both a smile and looked around. It seemed like the other girl had things under control or else he would have stepped in and offered her some direction.

Amongst many students at the newly erected Brimstone Institute, few were able to shoulder the sweltering heat that the day had to offer. Leland could see the droplets of sweat as well as the various attempts of who he presumed to be wind elementalists summoning trade winds (but only producing hot wind winds instead). He would know given that some girl next to him had been blowing hot wind in his face for the past ten minutes. As much as he wanted to blame her she was trying to use her power charitably so he chose to straighten his vest and tie. He really hoped that this woman (barely a woman given how young she looked) was a first year and not some repeat student.

Aside from the unfortunate breeze, he was able to keep his composure and pay attention to the rest of the ceremony, something he considered a personal victory given how many others were busy conversing with their fellow seatmates. Perhaps if they paid attention they would be able to do more than coast by and boast about how "brilliant but lazy" they are. He had to admit that seeing his friends in the same state that they were last year was as embittering as it was sad. They were still the same obnoxious, apathetic about life boys and girls as when he met them in Hell. It was fine though, he stopped caring about them long ago as they did him.

Now Leland could focus upon polishing his own power and perhaps climbing to the top of the institute after this next year is over. He knew that there were quite a few people ahead of him in Hell alone and imagined that Heaven had their own set of formidable users. True, Hell had a more rigorous training regime but individual skill and cleverness was just as important as the teachings. That was something made painfully clear when his sister had come home for the summer. She had beaten him in a duel despite the fact that he was able to disarm her quite well. That was something that would definitely need to be fixed once he found her again.

With the approach of the Headmaster, Leland waited for the students to jam into the doorway before he teleported into the front of the crowd and looked for an empty seat, not wanting to get too cozy with anyone be they transfers of Heaven or Hell.

Everyone always called him Tony. It was just fitting for him. He was an upbeat friendly guy but he was also a professional. He knew when to wear his poker face and this was one of those times. He listened intently to every detail that poured from the president's lips.

He graduated from high school only months ago and now he was sitting among many others as they were welcomed to the college. The funny thing about the ceremony was that underclassman and upperclassmen were required to go. Why? Well, two colleges merged into one. As expected, some people dropped out and others transferred but there were more than enough that stayed. Tony? Well, he was just glad enough to get in. Then again, why wouldn't he? He had a special power that came in quite handy -- healing. Prior to showing up today, he had been sought out by the medical staff and was to start as an intern at the infirmary today. How sweet was that? He hadn't even attended the opening ceremony and he was given a job!

When the closing remarks wrapped up, he obediently moved into the gymnasium. He made sure he waved to people and was his usual, chipper self.

Ah yes, his first day. It was going to be great; he just knew it!

The other students weren't very orderly in simply changing location, something that Reyna had noted during the short walk through the school. For whatever reason there were even those that didn't seem to wish to move with the flow of everyone else; people are bound to get hurt if they aren't paying attention like that, she thought as she adverted her red orbs to shoot a few stationary students a dark as she continued onward.

People around her were talking, those that had managed to sit by their friends or make some during the entrance ceremony. The gifted Hell student was not one of those students, rather there was a small bit of space around her that separated herself from the other people walking through the halls. It wasn't a space she created, but they did, regardless to how stuffy the hallways would have been growing with them walking through them so tightly; it was as though they feared accidentally bumping into the woman. Reyna had no complaints however, she wouldn't have been completely sure how to handle the situation if people were walking right up against her, let alone talking to her. At that point she would have fallen onto her default moody attitude.

A set of large open doors soon greeted the marching students as the gymnasium, their destination approached them. Not being one that was in a social mood, upon entering, Reyna didn't join any of the students that had already formed their circles, rather she found a nice comfortable spot in the middle of the gym. Standing there, the dark haired woman was at a comfortable distance from the other students and those closest to her stared only for a brief moment before hiding their continuous gazes in their conversations.

Reyna had been with Hell academy for about three years now; having recently turned twenty two, the woman's skill surpassed many others in the facility and she was put in as a fifth year this year. Of course, she couldn't have guessed that her fourth year at the school wouldn't really come as Hell and Heaven were combined into the academy in which she stood now. The thought of having to go to the same school as those Heavenly pricks was enough to send the ice woman's blood to a roaring boil.

Even after having spent a lifetime of studying, Reyna had been denied her school of choice, while so many, including her childhood friend made it in. Going at her studies even harder, the black haired woman quickly rose in ranks at Hell and now she wanted nothing more than to unleash her icy powers upon those that said she was no good; she would show those Heaven brats just what their school let go of, the second she was given the chance of course.

Reyna's foul mood must have been running rampant as the air around her chilled further, her own flesh not noticing due to its naturally cooler temperature. Little snow-like crystals danced about the cold air, a mix of the two catching attention of the groups closest to her, some of them slowly moving further away from the woman to avoid her icy wrath. The gym, much like the auditorium, was going to want better air conditioning if they were going to be regularly housing the whole student body, but thanks to Reyna's little display, the heat in this room wasn't rising nearly as quickly as it would have she should have been in a better mood. She once again took a seat, just awaiting for the 'festivities' to be over.

Lastoy was more than grateful that the girl in front of her was rather kind. She smiled and offered her hands- the first time she tried, she gave her left hand, and the second time was what resulted in the correct handshake. She smiled brightly.

"Ah! I'm Lastoy Pirkins. Nice to meet you, True." she pulled her hand back and then scanned over the crowd, trying to guess what direction everyone was heading. She then stopped herself and gently hit her forehead, turning back to face True. She then laughed nervously, the sound barely audible in the loud area.

"Oh yeah! We're going to the gym. That's the part I remember waking up for." the lanky girl placed her left hand on the back of her neck, and then looked down. Goodness, she's short. "I'm guessing its in the direction of which the people are going. The question is: do we follow?"

  12. Characters in this post:
True breathed an air of relief, sensing sincerity in the girl's words. She seemed nice, and it was funny how she seemed to be in a state of daze, remembering things she shouldn't have forgotten in the first place. True could definitely relate with that forgetful side of her and resisted nodding her head emphatically. Despite everything, True was feeling nervous walking alone in a new place. All her life, she was surrounded by the same people she had known since preschool, living in that part of town where everyone knew everyone. So, being in a foreign place surrounded by unfamiliar faces, she was feeling quite unsettled despite her calm demeanor. Lastoy's presence calmed her to quite an extent. Her eyes flicked to her surroundings, taking in the interior of the building and watched as the crowd thinned as people started walking into an opened door leading to what she assumed to be the gymnasium. "Yeah, sure."

She's never one to be so perceptive, but as she walked farther, True noticed how within the crowd, there were a few people who stood out. One of them was the girl that had walked pass her earlier. At first she thought it was just something she imagined, but for some reason, it seemed as if people were deliberately making way for the raven haired beauty as she disappeared into the gym. Speaking of beauty, what in Heaven's name is that work of art strutting down the hallway? To say that the blonde was handsome was a devastating understatement. True knew that if any of her friends were here, they'd be together evaluating the guy from head to toe. Using their standard evaluation, she'd say he was probably a close 9 - she was unsure of the tattoo, usually she'd deduct two marks for it but it looked good on him so she gave an extra one.

    Damn. Bad move, True.

She was missing her friends already. For True, it was never easy for her to make friends because of her powers, no one really wanted to get close to her - for obvious reasons - and even when they tried to act nice, she could sense their hypocrisy in an instant. She was convinced that it was probably the work of some higher being to create the miracle of her actually meeting people who could accept her as a friend. And now, surely, that higher being probably got bored with her recent progress that she's being plunged into this alien of a place to start her social life from scratch. Hallelujah.

Well, there was nothing she could do about it now other than to suck it up and face the challenge. True glanced back just in time to catch a boy smiling in their direction before he looked away. She kept her eyes on him a few seconds longer than necessary before turning away. He's a 6. It's not that he was bad looking or anything, it's just that there's something about him that's just - how could she put it? - blunt. Surely, if it wasn't for his hair, he would just be another forgettable face, and for that, she gave him an extra two.

Okay, enough of that for now. The line was moving at a snail's pace so it was a while before she could move forward from where they had been standing. Mixed in all the anxiety, insecurity and nerves that was hitting her straight in the gut as a result of typical First Day Syndrome, True was pretty excited with the new start in her life. It was a change, something she never had before ever, and it might actually be a good distraction for her to forget some... upsetting things. Subconsciously, she had reached for Lastoy's hand and started urging her forward as the line moved again, her eyes set on the large set of doors, an almost childlike grin playing on her lips. "Come on, let's go."

Almost as if destiny needed them to union, the two males soon found one another looking the other in the eye. Just inches taller than his older comrade, Tony was the first to break the serious exchange and wear a grin on his handsome face. Immediately following was Renner who too wore a smile on his face. Their eyes lit up as they moved in for a fist bump.

"I was wondering if I would see you roaming around these halls. Who knew it would be so soon?"

"I might have been stalking you."

"Oh please, I'm a better assassin than you."

"Touche. You do have the eyes of a hawk."

    "Caw caw, muthafucka!"

"So what's this sorting game thing the headmaster was talking about?"

"Hell if I know. I'm 'new' too, remember?"

"Oh yeah. I forgot the schools were merging."

"Sometimes your wits worry me. Aren't you supposed to be smarter than me?"

    "I am."

    "Modesty is not your calling."

"Says the guy who worships himself."

"I cannot help it. My body is a temple."

    "Yes, but still."

"Admit it, you want to bang me."

"Oh I would bang you any day."

    "Shut up and kiss me."

"I never did peg you for a small talk kind of guy."

"I did peg you as the rambler."

"Says the guy who hasn't stopped talking to me."

"You're awfully cocky for a newbie."

    "I learned from the best."

And, with that, the two found their seats and continued to rattle off nonsense about missing one another and how they looked forward to spending time together. A beautiful friendship was foredooming. And Brimstone? It better embrace it with arms wide open.

As expected, the two found their places, near one another of course, and awaited further instruction.

Surprised, but delighted by the sudden show of a friendship, Lastoy allowed herself to be pulled by True. She was near ecstatic that she wasn't quite the only one who sometimes acted childishly. Once they passed around the line that was moving at a snail's pace and through doorway that everyone walked through, a wave of cold air hit her face. She drowned in this sudden relief from the scalding hot day for a moment: her eyes closing and her mouth hanging slightly agape.

Another gentle tug on her hand pulled her back to reality- Where was True taking her now? People were settling down in seats, and the difference between Heaven and Hell students was near obvious. Those from Hell seemed to have an aura of confidence and brutality, whereas the Heaven students seemed almost a little welcoming. Okay- so maybe there wasn't too much of a difference. Lastoy knew full well just how mean some of the students from Heaven could be, as she was sometimes seen as a laughingstock because of her... abilities. Her eyebrow twitched slightly at her own thoughts, but no other expressions of her frustrations seemed to show through the smile she wore on her face.

"So, where're we sittin'?" Everyone else seemed to be, so why not follow the crowd? She did not wait for an answer, but continued to pull the girl's hand to two open spots near the right side of the room. Finally seated, she flashed a small apologetic grin to those she tripped over on the way.

  15. Characters in this post:
The chatter of the students around her was beginning to get to Reyna; being the ice elementalist that she was, she wasn't able to tell the true heat of the room. Everyone around her, however, had yet to stop complaining about it. Inhaling a deep breath of air, the dark haired woman closed her eyes as she sat (somehow away from most of the other students) in the middle of the room. In a matter of moments, a deep chill began irradiating off the woman's slender form.

Opening her eyes, she sat back against her chair as the cool air quickly began filling the room. It wasn't anywhere near as cold as the air around the woman, but it would be enough to seem like the air conditioning was kicking into high gear. That should be enough to quiet them down, she thought to herself with a nod, a slight smile forming on her lips as her red orbs fell to the back of the chair before her.

  16. Characters in this post:
Meandering his way through the crowd of students, Mackenzie didn't find any particularly familiar faces. Of course he recognized some, but none enough that he thought he should strike up a friendly conversation with. He was never very good at the whole making friends thing. Better to just find a seat. Strolling through the crowd and weaving his way past groups of people he noticed the heat starting to dissipate as he neared the center of the room. Bright eyes found the source as he spied the small young woman sitting alone.

No one was near her and it was clear that, she seemed to almost want it that way. Mac was a bit too thick headed to get the hint so he strolled up to the seats behind her and plopped down a bit abruptly.

"You shouldn't be so... obvious." He blurted out. "Unless scaring away other students is your intent, then I'd say you are doing a bang up job with the whole cold thing." He shrugged as he leaned back in his chair and let his eyes bounce around the other students that didn't really come near her. Mac didn't really care, he liked being cooled down, it was like his personal AC unit for the moment.

  17. Characters in this post:
Sitting there the boys couldn't help but wonder just what was going to happen. It was a new experience for the two of them. Even though Renner was a grade higher, the merging of the schools forced everyone to be on the same playing field. It was exciting, at least for Tony. Renner, well he wasn't so sure. He wasn't completely on-board with the thought of a "sorting" system. What would happen if he was put in with some know-it-alls? Or worse, what if there were no females in his grouping. Then again, it would make sneaking out and banging a few of the "others" a bit more entertaining.

He missed the first half of Tony's comment, but he wouldn't let the brunette know that. "Do you think we'll be lucky enough to be on the same side? Or team? Or whatever?"

"I would absolutely love that but let's not get outlandish ideas going and create something beautiful before we learn where we're going. No point in building a castle before the armies have been selected, right?"

"I suppose," Renner have a shrug before slouching a bit into his seat. "Still, I want to know what going to happen. The anticipation is killing me."

"Chillax, bro. Good things come to those who wait," elbowing his counterpart, Tony flashed a grin before his eyes wandered back over the students. He stopped when his eyes landed on an unusually beautiful raven who was sitting beside vivid redhead. When she looked his way, Tony flashed her a smile and a wink. Maybe after this ceremony thing was over, he would ask her for her name and number.

Reyna rolled her eyes back to meet the gaze of the boy now sitting behind her. She recognized him as one of the students from Hell, apparently one of the few that would actually try and talk to the woman. With her arms crossed under her chest, she shrugged a reply, "Students are complaining that they're hot, wouldn't it be wrong of me to ignore that seeing as I can fix it?" Even with her standing in Hell, and now at Brimstone, Reyna wasn't really a nasty person though she was very good at coming off that way. She was normally quiet and tended to keep to herself and her studies which, like in the past tended to keep people away from her.

Her brows furrowed for a moment as she felt the gaze of yet another upon her. She shouldn't have been too surprised about it, especially with all the new kids and people from Heaven there, the very thought of that making the woman's eye twitch. She tried to ignore the gaze, but it just seemed to remain locked on the back of her head. Finally giving in to the sensation, Reyna turned around to be greeted by a pleasant smile as people crossed through their gaze. In her peripherals, as a person was walking by, a familiar hair color caught the woman's eye and she broke eye contact for a moment.

The bored looking face she was met with was one that had been haunting her for years. It felt as though Reyna's heart stopped as her gaze fell back to the darker haired male, a red hue creeping to her cheeks as she quickly turned back around in her seat, her arms crossed tighter over her ribcage than they were before. He's here, she thought to herself before nervously running a hand through her hair, scratching at her scalp slightly.

After the young female finished herding the rest of the students into the gymnasium, she herself made her way into the building.

Jeanne spotted the Coach from a mile away. After all, his tall build and shocking red hair were hard to miss. She grinned; she was one of his favorites, if not his favorite. The girl was certain that she'd be placed into the appropriate level this year.

She scanned the bleachers for an available seat, finally spotting one next to a brown haired, green eyed male, currently engaged in some sort of conversation with the man next to him.

Carrying herself with a bounce in her step, Jeanne plopped down into the mentioned seat.

Coach Leon was a tall man of six feet and eleven inches, a handsome build, and flaming red hair.

He cleared his throat, his voice a booming bass, "Ehem."

Leon began to pace, his leather boots clunking along the floor, "It's time to discuss the Sorting games."

His hazel eyes glared out into the crowd, "Every year, new and old students will be grouped into temporary teams based on previous evaluations and will have to fight a designated professor in order to earn their rank. This will take place during the first month; after that, you kids will begin regular classes in the level you've earned. Got it?"

Arawn sat in the large lecture hall in his female form wearing a simple white dress with her long purple hair in two long pony tails. She sat listening to the headmaster blather on, she was a third year student at Heaven so she had heard this info twice before and was fairly certain she knew the opening speech by heart. To entertain herself, and more importantly keep herself from falling asleep she was changing her eye color every few seconds but even that wasn't keeping her that entertained. Looking around she was trying to scope out all of the new students from the Hell school.

Grabbing her backpack she pulled out her notebook she tore out a single sheet of paper and began folding it into a paper airplane. She looked around trying to find someone to throw it at, but not finding anyone that stood out she simply tossed it through the air clear across the room before falling to the floor. Well that didn't take up a lot of time...this will never end leaning back in her chair she noticed a few new student some first years and some from Hell were looking over her way. Most students who have been in classes with her know that she is a shape shifter but she always loved messing with people who were not aware of this fact. Looking over her shoulder at one student she gave him a coy smile and a wink Well that should cause some entertainment later! Arawn thought to herself with a huge smile on her face.

The assembly was finally over, grabbing her long black overcoat and backpack she stood up and flung the coat on and the backpack over the jacket. She began making her way through the crowded hallway Arawn smiled at the thought of running into her friends from the past year, but even more than that she was looking forward to meeting new people. Arawn was in high spirits and was skipping down the hall while humming.

Arriving at the gymnasium Arawn looked around and found herself a seat near some new students. Sitting down next to the blonde haired blue eye student who was next to a very tall man with lightish brown hair. Turning to her side she waved and gave a cute smile "Hello! I'm Arawn!"

Sorting games? What? "Fight a professor, are you serious?" True was definitely alarmed now. It wasn't that she wasn't confident of victory, she had a definite tactic for that. She could easily enough threaten her foe - especially, a teacher - to forfeit. The problem was what would surely come after. She had knew her social life was doomed from the very beginning, she wasn't delusional, she just never thought it'd happen so quickly. Maybe she'd even have to transfer again if things got ugly during her evaluation. Perfect.

She turned nervously to her neighbor. True wondered what Lastoy's powers were but she couldn't risk asking, knowing it'll only prompt the same question to be directed back to her. And that never brings any good. Nope.

Suddenly she was distracted by a flash of white. "Huh, that's weird." True frowned, her eyes trained on the girl with the white dress. She couldn't put her finger on it, but there was just something "off" about the girl's presence. Ugh, whatever. It doesn't concern her. Now, back to thinking about her social life.

"So, when are they going to put us into teams? Wait, when did they make the previous evaluation anyway?" She's sure she was never evaluated before. Well, of course, there was the possibility she might'd forgotten about it but that's pretty unlikely, don't you think? The only thing she remembered was her mother telling her about her transfer a few days after "The Incident". It was right after someone made a phone call to her house. True was already suspended then, sitting around watching some bad Spanish drama that was playing on repeat for the whole day. Really, the whole incident was just a joke. But, things got serious when one of her friends posted the video she took specially for that prank on YouTube.

Wait - don't tell her, no, that's impossible. Scowling, she felt a chill run down her spine. This place was getting stranger and stranger.

Reyna pursed her lips as her attention was focused on what the large male said. No longer really paying attention to those around her, but painfully aware of whom was attending Brimstone, the dark haired woman kept her attention on the task at hand. These games were really nothing new, it seemed that from one school to another the staff still seemed to hold similar ideals and ways of doing things.

A few of the students that had moved over from Hell cast a quick glance towards the girl; she was flashy in her performances and she ensured that none could top her level in skill. She was curious to see the skill level of the others though as it had been a while since she had really seen another student that would pose any sort of challenge. The only one that had come close was Jeanie and she was still a few snow flakes short of an ice age. Of course, she could only wonder how his skills were now; it had been some time since she had seen the boy from her past in combat and he was sure to be a spectacle by now.

Reyna's mind drifted slightly as she recalled times where the two of them would spar as kids and if it hadn't been for the fact that her family pushed her so, the red headed child would have probably been on level with the pale haired 'bad boy'. She had always thought his powers were cool; to be able to manipulate your body's form was definitely something. It was actually the reason that Reyna's ice armor came to be, it was and still is the closest the woman will ever come to being able to change her own form.

With her mind finally coming back to reality, the dark haired woman couldn't wait until the sorting games began. It had been a while since she had been able to go full out like this and she truly did enjoy showing off. The teachers were very skilled and they wanted the students to go all out so Reyna made sure to not be one to disappoint and this year would be no different, regardless as to whom she may be paired or grouped up with.

Lastoy looked down, remembering a thing similar to last year's evaluation. She winced at the memory of he disappointment in her team's eyes, and the pain of having to stay behind as they continued to move forward. It was a game to everyone else- who can be in the best team?

The bespectacled girl did have quite a bit of a problem controlling her power, but in some cases, it worked out for the better. However, those special cases were so rare and few between, and when it was her team's time to battle last year...

Nevermind that. You're starting anew anyway. She sighed, and then lifted her head to smile at True.

"Well, I don't know about the teams, and I don't know if they are going to switch things around- I mean, now that we're mixed in with Hell and all." She rolled her shoulders and reached forward, stretching. "But-" she released a small squeak, as she had pulled too far on her arm. "Ow... But evaluations are done whenever. The administration has their eyes on everyone, like they are hawks!" Her hands went over her eyes, looking like binoculars. She turned this odd, playful gaze to her newfound friend and smiled broadly.

"I do hope I'm put in a team with you. You don't seem like the type who would get too caught up in a fight." Withdrawing her hands, she sent a wink to True and then brought her focus to the front of the room. The question now pierced her mind: When are we going to be assigned teams?

Leland kept to himself, mainly trying to ignore the inane conversations taking place around him. There was a short, blonde-haired sitting next to two men in a heavy conversation. He was no stalker, but he had recognized her as being one of the top students in Hell, a summoner who looked much too young for her level of power. Jeanne Marie. She was the level of power that he strove to achieve and surpass and she was one of the few people that he respected enough not to internally judge every time he saw her. Her powers were nigh supernatural and her precision was nothing short of impeccable. Even if she wasn't regarded as the best amongst Hell's students, she worked damn well hard.

He leaned back in his seat, eyes moving toward the redhead that cleared his throat. Coach Leon was most likely the head of physical education and, of course, power training. Leland hadn't done much research on the teaching department of Brimstone, mainly because he was too busy being swept to social events by his older sister who was nothing but excited that they would be attending the same school. They would hang out together, study together, and she could show him all the cool things that only upperclassmen knew about!

    It was a bit overbearing.

For now though, he only needed to worry about the sorting games. Fighting with a professor was nothing to him since Hell had similar practices, but he did wonder about teams. Assuming that teams would be of people entirely around his own level he would he confident, but if Brimstone tried to do something along the lines of assigning prodigies with deadbeats for the sake of "balance" he would most likely teleport to the nearest train station.

Leon cleared his throat once more, "The teams will be decided...now."

At his announcement, the scoreboard that hung on the opposite side of the room displayed the aforementioned groups.

A buzz began to rise among the students as they all found their names located within their own particular groups. It was then that some seemed to notice the signs labeled "Team A, B, C, D, and etc." posted throughout the gym.

"You'll have thirty minutes to associate with your team for now. Afterwards, the lunchroom will be opened for an hour; eat and meet back in here. The fighting pair will be announced then."

  27. Characters in this post:
She was, to say the least, annoyed. Her team, made up of a Renner Casanova, Trudy Vines, and Leland Plantaget, seemed lacking- at least to her.

Out of the three people she would be working with, Jeanne Marie only knew of one: Leland. He'd attended Hell a year behind her, and though she'd only known of him from passing by the male in the hall, his ability seemed, well, interesting. Jeanne didn't know much about it, but it seemed to involve moving from one place to another at a high speed. Of course, this could be a great misconception on her part, but the only thing Jeanne cared about was if he was skilled in battle.

The other two? Eh, she hadn't heard of either of them- perhaps they were new, or from Heaven.

Popping up from her sitting position, Jeanne skipped down the bleachers, looking for the sign that indicated her team: Team A. "Where oh where could it be~?

  28. Characters in this post:
Leland squinted at the scoreboard that lit up with the team assignments. The ratio of Heaven versus Hell students amongst each team was evenly mixed, as was the skill level. He recognized some of his former friends being placed with a few Heaven transfers that he knew as well as his sister who seemed excited to be interacting with some new initiates. On the other hand, there was his team.

Though it was arrogant of him to say, he had a feeling that he and Jeanne would be carrying the team given that he had little information on either Trudy or Renner. Even though they could very well be decent team members, he wanted more than decent. He wanted them to excel with whatever their power was. The both of them were most likely Heaven students, but must not have been all that notable given that Delilah was usually the first to talk about the latest "favorite" in combat class. Though he loved her, she had a chip on her shoulder about teachers playing favorites and had to have her criticism sugarcoated to the point of diabetes. This wasn't even counting her control issues when it came to reverting her transmutations...

Actually now that he thought about it, the team could have been worse. At least his sister wasn't on it.

With that thought in mind, Leland stood up and teleported to the bottom, looking for the designated "A" area.

A huge disappointed sigh left Lastoy's lips when she saw the sign. She hung her head and gave out a strangled groan. She wasn't with True! Darn, her small wish wasn't answered! She pulled herself together and then offered a small smile to the girl beside her.

"Well! I guess that means that it is time for us to take our separate paths! If you wouldn't mind, maybe I'll join you for lunch later. Hope you're team's nice to ya'!" Another flash of her smile, and she was off down the bleachers towards the sign that practically screamed her team name.

She arrived there first, her hands shoved into her pockets and her back against the wall. Standing as she was, she really did realize how much she felt like a first year again. It was much like last year's feeling, with the excitement and buzz about meeting new people. She loved the feeling more than anything, and she really wasn't expecting to feel it again so suddenly. She was at a new school, with new people and everything! It wasn't the damning disappointment she would have gotten back at Heaven, repeating the first year again as she was. She was the only one to have done so, so word would have been spread around like wildfire and each of three things she thought would happen: other first years would gather around her for advice, she would get ridiculed for being the only to repeat the year, and she would be looked down upon. That's what generally happens to those who fail, right?

I'm not a failure! I just can't control myself~ she thought, her sing-songy inner voice nearly carrying out into reality. A soft hum left her lips and she let out a long, drawn out breath. Was the person coming towards her a part of her team? It took all she had not to attack them with a greeting and a hand to shake, as she didn't know if they could have been on one of the other teams around.

Things got interesting and fast. One minute they were told to face a teacher and the next they were being informed of their teams. But before either guys moved to read about their selected teams, they had to address the newcomer that happened to take the empty seat beside Renner. Tony, naturally, gave the first wave and laid down a genuine smile. “Hello, I’m Tony! And this is Renner.” Giving Renner a good elbow, the blonde was forced to be cordial.

“Sup?” His eyes examined the lass as if she were a mouse to his well-trained hawk eyes. “I don’t recall seeing you before? You new around here like my boy Tony?” Then again, it wasn’t hard to believe that Renner wouldn’t recognize someone. He was known for using people to his convenience and then dumping them from his mind when their job was done.

Sitting and chatting was fine and dandy, but it was time to flock to that billboard posting of teams. Waiting for the white-haired lass to scoot her booty, the two boys rose and followed her to the team listing. “See your name on the list?” Renner asked while looked to the both the people who accompanied him.

“Noooooooooooooo,” a wildly dramatic sound rose above the chatter of the other students. With a distraught look on his face and tears swelling in his eyes, Tony latched onto Renner and began rattling off that he was never going to let go and that he needed to be with Renner forever. There were several other strings of words, but Renner lost track of them when I love you happened to fall into the sentence. He knew it was a joke, but still, Tony was attracting too much attention for his liking, especially with the proposing and whatnot.

“Eh, who needs teams.” Renner’s hands came across his chest. “It’s not like I would fight you,” it was odd to see that smile cross onto his face. “I’ll practice with you but no full blown duels, okay?”

“Deal-e-o, buddy!” Tony whirled around to look at the white-haired woman. “So who’s team are you on?!”
