    [QUESTION] Friend / Contact

I was checking the privacy options and noticed that there was a distinction made between "friends" and "contacts." I do understand that individuals marked as "friends" require the other party's approval whereas "contacts" appear to be a one-sided, personal identifier. I was just wondering, other than that difference, if there were any other distinctions between the two groups.

I believe that a Friend is someone who has accepted your friend request. It's a case where both of you have agreed to add each other to your friends list.

A Contact is someone who hasn't accepted that friend request, but you've added them to your list anyway. It's possible to have Contacts without them approving the action.

So it's not a very big distinction. But at least it provides a name for that weird relationship of "Hey I want to be your friend but you haven't signed on, are you ignoring me or just procrastinating about accepting the request?!"
