accessdeniedKanon raised an eyebrow when Locke poured gasoline around the car in the garage. Wasn’t he supposed to set the building on fire? However, he was of a higher authority than she, and Kanon assumed that Locke knew what he was doing. This was disapproved by the fact that there was now a man pointing a gun at Locke’s head- wait, wasn’t that their primary target?!

accessdeniedTch... Kanon frowned, her mind running into overdrive. What should they do when their enemy has a gun pointed towards them? Run? Fight? No, the best decision would most definitely be to relent. The dark haired male seemed dangerous. Slowly, Kanon began to move to where he directed Locke, nudging the male to do the same.

  2. Characters in this post:
Gear saw Riley go down and Maalik encase him in pipes.

"This is our chance!" Maalik said and Gear didn't need to get told twice. He pulled up his cross bow and shot two bolts- one made of shadow essence and the other of metal- simultaneously at the downed man's head. He then used his smaller crossbow to fire another shot at the man- just in case.

  3. Characters in this post:
Kanon nudged Locke's arm toward the place where the man had told them to go. He merely glanced over at the girl before sighing and moving over to the spot. He pulled his arms down slowly to his sides, his eyes drifting between the fire and the man that the red head finally managed to recognize as the primary target.

Oh. Well, again, shit. He had an idea.

Out of the corner of his eye, Locke could see the flames start to grow higher and higher, the smoke starting to fill the air. He ignored the need to pull out his breathing mask (so as to not startle the target), by making most of his concentration sit on the fire. At the moment, the man was rather unpredictable, and Locke didn't want to be completely without a form of protecting himself.

Better to draw from a source then to create on your own.

  4. Characters in this post:

There are two types of agents in the world: agents who hope for the best and agents who have seen enough to simply know.

Maktub Maalik is of the latter.

Even though he wanted everything to work, he knew better than to think it would. Things with people like The Gravedigger never went as smoothly as hoped.

The shots Gear fired never landed. Both connected with the redhead's guard, trapped inside metal and earth. The metal pipes around Riley unbent and Maalik felt winded from the countering force.

Blood trailed from Riley's lips, dripping onto his clothes and falling onto the floor. "So, not completely useless, I guess. Still not good enough though."

Spikes flew up from the ground again, spreading from Riley in five different directions. They moved faster than before, more fiercely than before.

  5. Characters in this post:

The fire wasn't a small one, but there was nothing Jake could do about the situation. It's not like he could just summon water or something. He ain't no goddamn synergist.

When the two moved sideways, Jake pointed again with the gun. This time, he wanted them to move forward.

"Git, to the door now. And keep ya hands where I can see them. Now git."

Now Candy is going to have to hear about this and probably TK. And they should hear about it sooner rather than later. "Hurry up, before the fire gets any worse!"

  6. Characters in this post:
The next few moments were quick and jarring. By the time that Alarick had pulled himself from the ground he saw that Riley was roped back by metal that Maalik had manipulated, and that Gear was getting ready to deliver the kill shot. They were agents of Siderus- not murderers or assassins.

“No,” Alarick stated a moment too late as the two bolts clicked off. Why was the man here? Who did he work for? Why was he with Errol- or if they weren’t with Errol why was he interfering with his operation? Of course he was far more valuable to them alive than dead- but then again he was trying to kill them. Still was it worth a man’s life because they were poor agents and failed their mission?
He probably shouldn’t have been surprised that the bolts never connected- even if the water was pulling itself from their puddles to intercept Gear’s shot. It fell back down just as quickly.

As Riley literally peeled himself from Maalik’s encasement- there wasn’t much time between that and the next volley of land spikes that erupted towards them. There was no pattern to this set either. So once Alarick dodged one he unfortunately fell straight into another one. Had he been younger- and less damaged- he probably would have managed to overcome them easily enough. Instead it clipped him quite nastily in the side and could feel half of his body weaken before he felt the pain. Truth be told had it not hit his scarred side he would have yelled out, but the nerves there had been burned away so many years ago and never recovered.
Blood trickled from his side and then began to pour into rivulets.
‘Concentrate just concentrate,’ Alarick thought quite steadily as he just attempted one last shred of power. If he couldn’t deliver direct and powerful hits- maybe he could just- yes- that is what he would do.

Large masses of water were had to work with, but Alarick wasn’t trying to manipulate them in a detailed manner. He was just attempting to tug the water from the tower and flood the area.

  7. Characters in this post:

Maalik didn't have the time to jump out of the way as the onslaught of spikes started up again, coming at him faster than he could read the patterning of the grounds.

In response to the oncoming spikes, Maalik raised opposing walls, but the colliding spikes had its own set of problems. Rock and metal shards flew on impact. Some of it cut superficially, but a few found their way to his wound, making things worse.

Gritting his teeth together, the agent looked to Riley, who had managed to extricate himself from the holds. Riley wasn't unharmed, but his movements were still steady and his powers were still unfathomably strong.

    He was so incredibly strong.

Clutching his injured arm, Maalik took cover behind some rubble, trying to get a few seconds to regain his breath and, hopefully, come up with a plan.

  8. Characters in this post:
There was a lot of water there- and Alarick didn’t need to manipulate all of it to do his bidding- just enough so that it would strain the metal plating and come toppling down on top of them. Mind you he was attempting to stay aware of where his compatriots were and shield them from the inevitable deluge. He had preached Riley’s safety earlier- and to be honest he would rather capture the man that just knock him to the side knowing that he would live and come after them once again. But the situation was becoming more and more dire, and they had to save themselves somehow.

‘One more tug,’ Alarick thought and the rivets squealed before busting off and the metal paneling gouged open. It sent massive amount of water hurtling their direction with only a bit of help from Alarick. Who needed to help gravity? Yet he had to make sure it wouldn’t harm the others, and that is where all his attention went too.
He was completely vulnerable right now, but it didn’t seem like Riley was paying him any attention anyhow.

  9. Characters in this post:

"Not bad," Riley coughed, flecks of red flying out. "Not bad." More blood. The fight was slowly taking its toll. He had to finish this soon, before things could get any worse.

The ground was still moist from the earlier shower, no doubt the handy-work of the Pulvius synergist, but it wasn't enough to stop Riley. It wasn't even close to enough.

Without any warning, the ground started to shake again, the tremors increasingly more worrisome. Loose pipes came unhinged, rafters slid off nearby rooftops, and the earth started to rumble. It groaned under the force and roared as the surface started to crack.

    "This ends here."

  10. Characters in this post:
“I think not.” Alarick remarked when the brunt of the water finally found its’ way to them. He managed to keep the four of them shielded, but was practically unable to do anything else and the deluge hit them. It was nearly ten feet in height and roaring much like a river rapid. It flooded the place, but it would quickly lose height and power due to the cracks that had been ripped into the earth. Hopefully it would be enough to take care of Riley- somewhat temporarily- and offer them an escape.

It was a failed mission, but at least they were alive.

  11. Characters in this post:

The earthquake subsided under the pressure of water and Riley, unable to withstand the currents, crumbled under its strength.

Maalik watched as the redhead vanished under the force flood, the flaming red hair disappearing into the currents. Still clutching his injured harm, Maalik turned to give the brunette a nod of gratitude.

"We should get out of here," he whispered, wincing slightly as the pain in his chest and arm worsened. "It's okay that we didn't finish the mission. Some times, things happen," he explained to Skylar, his expression truly apologetic. "We also had some extenuating circumstances. I mean, The Gravedigger," he paused, shook his head and changed the subject. "Point is, this wasn't a mission we should have been given. I'll let the agency know it made a mistake."

Riley opened his mouth out of instinct, but that proved to be a mistake. Water rushed inside, burning his lungs with a kind of pain he had never known before. His scream was soundless and he could feel his body slowly shutting down, slowly turning off.

He was too frazzled to conjure the floor for elevation or even a basic barricade. His mental constitution was in no state to piece itself together.

But he didn't want to die yet. He couldn't die yet.

    He still wanted to live.

The water stopped moving completely, but Maalik, preoccupied with his team, didn't notice. He didn't even notice when the water seem to reverse itself.

    "Not... yet..."

The water parted and revealed Riley on his knees, coughing and choking. His hair clung to his face in wet, sticky tendrils while his clothes were ripped at the shoulder seams. He spat up blood and his breathing was labored. He was so many things, but all Maalik noticed was the odd orange glow outlining the other man's kneeling form.

    "What?"

    "We're not done yet."

In the next second, Maalik was crushed into the floor, his face meeting the ground with a sickening crack. Blood pooled from his forehead as he laid on the floor, motionless. "I told you that you couldn't beat me, Agent Maalik."

Riley coughed again and blood—black and red—came up. It trailed down his chin and dirtied his clothes, but he didn't seem to care. Instead, the man turned to face the remaining three agents, his smile turning feral. "You must be new"—he pointed to Skylar—"still wearing a student's uniform. Well, Miss, today is going to be a treat. You get to see someone manipulate gravity."

  12. Characters in this post:
Acaelus didn't even bother to glance back when he heard the sounds of strangled voices behind him; Wen was a trained Agent and he assumed the man could take on the guards when they attacked. The trembled whisper in his ear was what made him curse under his breath and finally bring a slight shock of power streaming through his fingertips to speed up the process of shutting down the buildings water system.

The panel's screen dimmed and started to blink red when the shots began to explode around him. A bullet bit into the wall next to his shoulder and Acaelus' breath hitched in his throat before he ducked behind the row of barrels beside him, seeking cover as he rushed to grab Wen.

The next rain of bullets ricocheted at the floor by Wen's feet as Acaelus dragged him to safety behind the blockade of vats. When they were both situated behind the barrels again, it was then that Acaelus noticed the danger signs painting the sides of the tubs of metal and he groaned inwardly. He sent a short prayer to a God he didn't believe in and reined in his focus. However once again his attention was taken away when a vibration at his wrist rippled up his arm and voices crackled into his ear.

His aching brain muddled through the routes that could be taken. They could give themselves up and attempt an arrest from inside a hostage situation. Or somehow fight there way through this mess.

Wen had knocked himself out from over exertion—if Acaelus was guessing—and only managed to bring two of the hostiles with him. Acaelus was shrouded behind highly flammable barrels of an unknown substance like a mouse hiding from a feline, with gunfire raining around him—at least the hostiles weren't choosing to investigate closer, considering they continued to fire their guns and neglect the fact that technically they had the upper hand in the situation. And Kanon and Locke seemed to have gotten in some sort of situation that left them unable to complete the first half of the plan. A plan that was evidently back-firing completely.

His eyes opened when the headache seemed to dissipate as a new plan formed. The two of them were lucky that the barrels hadn't exploded with them hiding behind them. Acaelus picked himself up slightly from the crouched position he was in, from hovering over Wen in a defensive position and twisting his frame in order to face the barrels. Their capture wasn't an option.

Acaelus pressed his palms against the strangely warm surfaces of metal and focused on the energy within him until it was pulsing through the creases of his fingerprints and was shaking like the feel of small kicks of sound on a speaker when the music was turned up high. The summon was a small one, but effective as he pushed himself back into a crouching stance and picked up Wen and threw him over his shoulder. He kicked sideways with a hard smash against the barrel, that he had just infused with a small amount of his bright energy and pushed off into a sprint in the opposite direction.

It was only a moment when he heard the satisfactory boom of the barrel exploding and then the sound of shouts echoing behind him. Retreating around the corner he ran for the front of the building—Wen flopping against his back with each step—where he would meet with Kanon and Locke. And the dark haired hostile—scratch that... target.

  13. Characters in this post:
The explosion echoed throughout the building and Candy's eyes narrowed with suspicion. "What was that?"

The man sitting across from her shrugged, but he had risen from his seat all the same. "I'm gonna go check it out." Slipping a gun into the back of his waistband, the long-haired male made his way towards the exit, his stride brisk.

The air outside was putrid and sticky—typical LA weather.

Wrinkling his nose in disgust, the blond walked in the direction of the sound, half-expecting it to be nothing more than an empty container falling off the back of a truck. But when he rounded the corner, the sight of fire and burning bodies made him draw his gun. "Looks like something interesting finally happened."

Over the sound of the slight fire, Jake could hear the distinct signature of a bullet being fired. Of a lot of bullets being fired. Shit, was this a territorial dispute?

"Hurry up, you two!" Jake growled as he gestured menacingly with the gun again. "Or I will shoot you!" And to make sure they knew he was serious, he fired off one round at the ground close to their feet. "Candy is gonna wanna see what you bitches are up to..."

It was then the brunette caught sight of another two oddly dressed characters. One was hanging unconscious off the other (impressive, considering the blond's size) and the other looked dangerous. "Shit, this is an ambush!"

Without thinking, Jake fired two more shots and hit the button on his radio. "Shit, we're being attacked!"

  14. Characters in this post:
Not being well-prepared and aware, Skylar lost her balance when their rival deformed the ground. "Shit," she fell down as parts of the land were displaced and the spikes popped out from the concrete ground like bamboo shoots. No serious injuries were caused nevertheless. That Sabulum synergist really is something, she got up and was slightly surprised to see how Agent Maalik was attacked. The other men also joined the fierce fight and somehow gained the upper hand again.

The redhead felt great shame in her chest. If only she had stayed focused, she would have, at least, made a move. With remorse, Skylar hopped back onto the ground level to meet up with her seniors. Yet suddenly, the floor moved again and cracks stretched out across the floor. The already wounded Agent Maalik was crushed into the ground in a flash. Turning back, "He's still alive?!" Skylar spotted the blood-tainted face of Riley. Her eyes widened when he heard the man made a remark about her.

"Well, Miss, today is going to be a treat. You get to see someone manipulate gravity."

"Yes, it is," the man irritated her so much, "It's a great learning experience." Although she disliked her supervisor, it was a pain to see him being assaulted like this. He was her comrade and senior after all. She raised her hands and created a giant fireball above her head. The heat produced strong air currents around her, sweeping dust and small rock fragments into the hot air. She was not good at aiming, so she threw the massive flame onto the man without the slightest hint of hesitation.

accessdeniedKanon sighed, and did what the annoying man wanted her to do, beginning to move towards the indicated places. She didn’t blink when the bullet was shot towards her feet. However, the dark haired man became distracted for a moment, glancing to the commotion that was going on outside.

    accessdenied”Shit, we’re being attacked!”

accessdeniedThis, along with the two other gunshots made Kanon certain that this man was becoming frantic. And feeling frantic lead to illogical behavior. She shot a sideglance towards Locke, then gave a slight nod to him. A slight breeze began to stir around her feet, and in a matter of seconds, a wind was shot from Kanon and into the already blazing fire. The fire swelled, roared, and swelled again, growing larger the more Kanon fed the wind into it.

  16. Characters in this post:

He dropped the cigarette to the floor and, with the toe of his boot, crushed the still-burning embers into the ground. Smoke creeped from underneath the gaps between his sole and the dirt. Riley was late.

Shaking his head, the blond picked up the briefcase and made his way towards the edge of the dock, his stride decidedly unconcerned. After all, the world belonged to the strong and those too weak to live didn't deserve another day. "The Gravedigger, was it? Guess even gravediggers need to be put down some day."

"That's an awful thing to say about your partner."

Tommie stiffened at the comment and his fingers instinctively tightened around the handle. "What's it to you? Wasn't this what you wanted anyway?"

A gloved hand reached down for the fallen, but not forgotten briefcase. "I'll be taking this now."

And as he walked away, wind catching in his hair, the other man laid still in a fan of fire.

"Child's play," Riley laughed as the fire swerved to the left, ramming into the side of a building. "You're weak," he remarked, giddy with some sort of unshared humor. "You're nothing."

The earth trembled again, shaking under Riley's control. Parts of the floor collapsed and other parts rose in jagged, uneven fashion, growing up with every intention of burying the agents alive. He was going to drive them into the ground, submerge them more than twenty-feet under.

"They call me The Gravedigger, agents." He laughed, but his moment was cut short by the shrieking of flames.

A phoenix, shaped and molded from flames, shot towards the ground, its beak aimed straight for Riley. And Riley watched with surprise and then fear and then anger. The emotions flashed through in rapid, uncontrolled succession as he raised his hands in a vain attempt to protect himself.

    "No, I've—"

Fire, the heat of likes never known before, washed over the redhead, breaking through his shield, and then eating him alive. It swallowed his final words, but not his screams. Agony and anguish rang in the area, but relief and mercy was no forthcoming.

"I believe this was what you were looking for." A man with long blond hair tossed a briefcase at the agents' feet. "You should radio for DiD to do recovery, he won't last long like this." He nodded at Maalik's still and unmoving form before turning his attention towards Riley's crumpled body, which had turned silent.

The flames vanished and the remaining embers floated slowly to the ground, disappearing as soon as they touched. "Trash like him doesn't deserve to breathe the same air as us." Kicking the burned and charred body over, the man knelt down and, from Riley's hand, slipped a still-glowing ring off. "I'll be taking this as payment for saving you guys and doing your mission for you."

  17. Characters in this post:
The shots rang through the air and as if in slow motion Acaelus twisted around as quickly as possible. Instead of the bullets sinking into the man slung over back, they blasted into his upper shoulder with an impact so excruciating, it blazed through his flesh like poison seeping through water. The pain made his legs feel weak under the weight he hadn't noticed until the wounds tore through his skin. He dropped to a knee and let Wen's unconscious body slip out of his grasp and to the concrete next to him.

The smouldering fire that sat a few feet aside suddenly blazed with life, giving Acaelus the distraction he needed to pick himself from his kneeling crouch and ignore the searing pain in his upper body and the leak of his blood soaking his uniform. He gripped his quarterstaff tighter and rushed the Target. The first strike he made was to the lower half of the man's body, making his legs sweep out from underneath him and collapse to the ground with a loud thump.

Acaelus dropped his staff, kicked away the man's weapon and flipped him onto his chest, pressing him to the quickly warming ground. Grappling to catch the hostile's wrists together before he managed to gain a hold on them with a bloody grip as he restrained him with the slim bar of the handcuffs. When Acaelus touched down with a slippery thumb on the activation button, it tangled against his flesh and dug in tight enough to hold him secure.

Acaelus pulled him up by the metal of the handcuffs as he stood himself and regarded Locke and Kanon without taking his gaze off the target in front of him, who he was now leading back to where Wen was laying, “We need to leave this area, if the fire or the guards calling for backup doesn't bring a hoard of this sort,” he shoved the man in front of him to the ground, far enough away from his Agent but close enough for him to keep an eye on, “Then the explosion I caused out there, certainly will.
“Narrin, Masami. I need you both to hunt down our main target, this... Candy individual.”
Acaelus took a moment to unzip the pouch over his ribcage and extracted a roll of white bandages and an antiseptic pen. After he spilt some of the solution over his marred skin, he tossed the empty container away and tore a long strip off with his teeth, he pressed the film just above the first wound that was still seeping crimson blood and began to wrap the entry points with practised precision. “I'll be waiting here. With Wen and this one—if I recall correctly, his name is Jake.” Acaelus looked up as he wiped his hair away from his eyes, leaving a smear of blood above his eyebrow, and steadied his gaze on his Agents. “As much as I'd like to allow you more time. This hasn't exactly gone according to plan. So please, be quick.”

The fire was gaining more and more life with the added air that Kanon had provided and once Acaelus gave the two the go-ahead he moved to Wen's sleeping form and quickly located his pack. He removed the breathing aid and made sure it covered his nose and pressed it over his lips, until it lit up a pale green, indicating that it was functioning. He did the same for himself and picked up his staff from the floor, clasping it tight as he waited for the next round of hostiles to attack.

  18. Characters in this post:

Gunshots continued to echo against the quiet, but the man's stride lacked urgency and care. He walked, almost leisurely, towards the source.

"Shit," Jake's voice broke through the radio, his words panicked. "We're being attacked!"

"By who?" Candy asked, her voice rougher than Jake's. "Who is behind this, Reynolds?"

But Jake never answered and it wasn't long until the man knew why: Jake had gotten himself into a bigger mess than rival gangs.

"He's indisposed. I'll take care of it, Candy," the man drawled, his voice a pretty mixture of something European. "Also, it's not a rival gang. It's agents from Sidereus. Two are coming for you, love."

With his radio held to his lips, the man, in a pretty East European drawl, said, "It's Sidereus Agents, Candy. Two of them are coming for you."

"What are you doing then, T.K.?" She sounded angry and scared, but more scared than angry. "Why don't you stop them?"

"Because I'm going to be busy dealing with the Son of God."

"Also, it's not a rival gang. It's agents from Sidereus. Two are coming for you, love."

T.K.'s voice came through the radio loud and clear and Jake, despite being handcuffed and injured, didn't miss a word. "Synergists?" He gasped, his eyes grew to the size of dinner plates. "N-No, this isn't—T.K.! Help me!"

A man with long light-brown hair stepped out, his eyes red and his gun pointed square at Acaelus's head, a sniper's dot trained on the target.

"Well, this is a pleasant surprise, running into the one and only Acaelus Trusz Muir."

T.K. seemed unconcerned, but Jake was frantic. He didn't want to go to prison—he couldn't go to prison again. This would be his third strike and, under the new system, he wasn't going to ever taste sunshine again. No, he absolutely couldn't go back to the slammers. "T.K., shoot him! I don't want to go to prison, I—!"

The gun never left Acaelus's head, but Jake was sliced cleanly in half, his torso separating neatly from his waist. His eyes were open, the shock evident in his expression. But he was dead long before his head met with the ground.

"Now that the liability is gone, why don't we get serious, descendant of De Luca?"

By now it was obvious that T.K. wasn't just another henchmen of Candy's. In fact, "T.K." wasn't at all who the debriefing papers had said he was. He wasn't an unknown bodyguard of low threat-origins. He was Hyde, a high-priority wanted criminal. He was Hyde, a man responsible for over a hundred different deaths.

(A/N: This post is made under the assumption that both Kanon and Locke have entered the building in search of Candy and her crew.)

  19. Characters in this post:
    Gravity-?
Riley was hurt that was apparent, but the sheer force that he was conjuring even in his state was enough to make Alarick blanch. Yet the epic crescendo was cut short by the screeching of a bird made of flame. It immolated everything in its path.
Riley went up in flames and smoke and became nothing more than a smoldering and desiccated corpse. It all happened so fast that Alarick was barely able to pull himself upwards before it was al over. Their mysterious helper threw the briefcase filled with the stolen paintings their way and left as quickly as he came.

Alarick just stared. It was all he could muster with his side gouged and bleeding like it was. He was exhausted and spent- which was obvious given the fact that all the water around him did was shift and churn with the upturned ground. It drained away quickly.
Taking away something from what their savior had stated- he changed the channel of his headset and called in for backup. “We have an agent down.” Alarick stated firmly. “We need medical aid and a quick evac.” Those words escaped his lips as he made his way over to Agent Maalik and he leaned into the man, “wow he really ate our lunch didn’t he?” He stated warmly into the other’s form. This was out of their control, and he damn well didn’t much care for the odds when they were so hazily stacked against them.
Alarick was a man of dignity and what he assumed to be technological prowess. He hadn’t wanted Riley dead- he had wanted information. Yet the smell of burning flesh mixed in with wet concrete was all that entered his nostrils right now and filled his lungs. The man hoped that he had caught something of the blonde’s face through his glasses (who had enough memory imbedded in them to allow for a few hours of documenting), but honestly he hadn’t been fixated entirely on the other’s form.

He peeled them off and tucked him in his pocket as he went to administer aid to Maalik- the best way he could. Alarick new that it would be in the agent’s best interest if he didn’t move him too very much, but at the same time the other was bleeding and pretty much compressed into the ground like sardines into a can.
Alarick chided himself at that moment as it was a pretty poor analogy.
“Agent Gear make sure the DiD can find us in this rubble- it might be hard to track our position from overhead considering the mess that Riley made.” His attention turned to the new recruit, “Agent Quilliam help me move Agent Maalik- we need to get him upright and his feet elevated. The best thing for him right now is not go into shock. So when I do that- I need to you compress the wounds to the best of your ability- think you can do that?”

Alarick would hold to this plan until help came- ignoring his own wounds in favor of the situation. Later he would have time to reminisce over this moment, and to recollect his thoughts. Apparently he had been out of Sidereus for far too long.

  20. Characters in this post:
Gear was shocked to hear that the man before them could do the unthinkable- manipulate gravity. No one could figure out how to do that, not since Adler. He didn't take long to show his skill either. He dropped Maalik and Skylar- broken out of a stupor of sorts- decided to hurl a massive fireball at him- which he deflected. Then the Screeching Bird came and killed Riley, along with the mysterious man with the suitcase.

Who the hell is this guy? Gear thought, but before he could verbalize this query, he was ordered to, by Alarick, to make sure they were noticeable.

"Got it" He said and got to work, getting up high and pulling out his flare gun that he had brought just in case. Gear really dreaded the fact that Maalik had been hurt so badly. Helena will not be happy.

  21. Characters in this post:
“Hyde,” Acaelus breathed in a sigh and his fingers twitched around the staff, aching to strike out with his weapon immediately. But with the barrel of a gun touching against the damp skin of his forehead and the finger of a psychopath resting easily on it's trigger, it would have been a careless move—at least without the proper amount of force behind the blow, “We've been looking for you for a long time—.“

His words were cut short when the man he had restrained began to plead for his freedom through the exorcising of Acaelus' life, but Acaelus knew better. He knew the man that was currently holding him hostage under the threat of his skull being blown through. So he wasn't at all shocked when the sickening sound of a body being sliced open followed by a wet flop to the concrete, hit his ears.

And that was the moment Acaelus was thankful that Kanon and Locke weren't anywhere in the vicinity. This was a man he could handle, but he wasn't confident that he could accomplish such a task with the added burden of their safety cradled in his hands.

"Now that the liability is gone, why don't we get serious, descendant of De Luca?"

Of course Hyde would know who Acaelus was. Sidereus knew about Hyde, so it was no surprise that he would have done research on their Agents. Considering it would be the highest ranking Agent's that would be chasing his trail, Acaelus was most likely one of his most researched individuals.

Acaelus levelled his gaze on the man, looking past the metal of his gun and staring with an unconcerned gaze into the man's eerily bright eyes. His heart was steady but loud in his ears as he rolled his staff between his fingers, letting crackling power sift like thickened water over silk sheets and charge the metal with as much energy as he could muster without Hyde catching on too quickly, “No witty banter this time? No, It's been so long. How's your family? Seen any stellar films recently? How many people have you murdered since the last time we've spoken? Acaelus' lips twitched as his voice growled mirthlessly. “Right down to business then, shall we?”

On the last syllable of his words Acaelus slid his thumb down the activating line to enable his staff's end to extend to it's full reach. The power sizzling along it's length vibrated with intent in his grip as it impacted with the man's side hard.

Acaelus dropped out from under the red line in a swift roll and prepared himself for the next assault. Sure that it would come as swiftly as he had made his move. The fact that not even a shot resounded before he was able to deal a blow to Hyde made his heart beat quicken for the anticipation for the next strike.

    "Shit."

Hyde dropped the gun and, with the safety turned off, an unintended shot was unloaded. "Ah, how careless of me," the brunette bit out as he waved his injured hand in a forward and backwards motion. "Stupid of me to have forgotten about your staff."

But then the look of pain twisted into a predatory grin, his eyes suddenly dim with an odd hunger. "Just kidding." The fanning of his hand stopped and, from it, a silver of wind, strong and precise, swept at Acaelus. It missed his face by centimeters—didn't even leave a scratch. But, in its place, Hyde took off several locks of hair, the pieces fluttering lazily to the ground. "Thought you needed a new look. I mean, long hair? Do you even know how fat it makes your face look?"

The wind was exactly what Acaelus was expecting, so in turn, when the strike sliced through the air towards him he drew in a breath but wasn't quick enough to pull back. The surprise came when all that he lost was a couple strands of the stray hairs that hung in his face.

With nimble fingers he toyed away the trimmed hair and straightened his posture. Flipped his staff around in his hand as he began to walk in a circle, hoping to direct Hyde away from the all but forgotten Agent that still laid unconscious slowly being soaked in the blood from the torn body strewn close by.

“Ah, there's the distracting words. I should have known better than to trust you wanting to get this over with as quickly as possible.” Acaelus spoke as he rubbed his fingers against each other, sticky with drying blood. “So how about some answers. How'd you manage to evade us all this time?” Acaelus knew that the longer he kept Hyde preoccupied on one target, so there was only a small chance he would be attracted to harming his Agent.

He only hoped that Kanon and Locke would stay away long enough for him to take down this Target.

Hyde shrugged, but his eyes stayed trained on Acaelus, watching the other man's footwork with careful calculations. Despite his playful attitude, Hyde was anything, but a child in combat.

"Oh, you know, it's not tough when the opponent sucks at Hyde-n-Seek—get it? Hyde? Hyuk, hyuk, hyuk..." The man chuckled at his own joke, the corner of his eyes creasing with laughter. "I mean, have you guys ever considered the fact that, maybe, you guys just suck at what you do? Hm? I mean you guys sent—ten agents, was it?—to come after lil 'ol me and my friends. And what did that get you guys? Was it six dead? Heh."

And as he talked, the currents of the wind picked up, swirling around the two with unusual force. It snaked through their hair, around their legs, and, occasionally, smothered their faces (more face-smothering on Acaelus than Hyde). It was irritating, but nothing too distracting. "Of course, you probably already noticed the wind's changing. I'm going to hit you soon, so you should probably defend yourself or, I don't know, try hitting me."

He smiled again, his canine showing through—pointy, animalistic.

Acaelus clenched his jaw and narrowed his gaze at the man and he straightened his shoulders as he felt the whisper of wind picking up around him, dancing with the strands of his long hair. Flipping his staff once more before he grabbed it, stilling the movement and feeling the reverberating power still drawing from the weapon.

“Well, I have to say, I prefer when it's just the two of us.” He paused.”Don't you?”

Acaelus quirked a crooked grin as he side-glanced the man, changing his direction as he pushed through the air surrounding him like a tangible current of water. He rushed forward until he was within range of the man and twisted his frame as he brought his foot around in a low kick, intending to knock him down.

Wind gathered and gravitated at the point of connection, keeping Acaelus's leg an inch away from contact.

"Tsk, tsk," Hyde wagged a finger at Acaelus. He even had the nerve to look patronizing as he did so. "I thought you were better than this. Must be all that hair. It's making you dumb by stealing all of your body's nutrients."

Suddenly, the buffer between Hyde's ankle and Acaelus's lower leg grew dense with force. It whistled loudly and, without any warning (or a smart retort from Hyde), knocked Acaelus backward.

The pressure that was created with the wind knocked him onto his back and made the breath in his lungs burst from him in a rush. After allowing himself a moment to recover his composure, Acaelus rolled onto his side and quickly swung out in a long arc with his staff; effectively catching against the side of Hyde's ankle and bringing him to the ground next to him with a satisfying crunch.

Acaelus hurried to regain his footing and brought down his staff, smacking a charged blow in the man's gut. It was a low blow, hitting somebody when they were on their back. But Acaelus wasn't taking any chances.

He then moved to flip the man over and finally put a pair of handcuffs on the man. “It's time to surrender Hyde.” He said in a hoarse voice as he moved to his side.

Hyde fell over like a sack of potatoes—heavy and uncoordinated.

    "Shit!"

Everything happened in the blink of an eye and, by the time Hyde had recovered his senses, his left cheek was pressed against the dirt and Acaelus was looming over him, the idea of victory already hanging off his every word.

    "It's time to surrender, Hyde."

"So certain, Acky. Are you like this in bed too?" Humor twined with his words, coloring his syllables with a distinct lack of concern. "You've gotta think about your partner, you know?"

Wind whistled past, screaming as it swerved around Acaelus. It was loud, shrieking as it gathered faster and faster in the palm of Hyde's hands. It was only a fraction of a second—no more than a blink of an eye—before Hyde shot into the air and his handcuffs sat broken on the ground, electrical currents shorting out the wiring.

"I don't really like to play rough. S&M? Not my thing, Acky," Hyde chided as he rubbed his wrists.

But even though Hyde was talking, the wind surrounding him never died down.

When the order was given, Locke was off with a mad dash for the door to the main building. Adrenaline raced through his veins as fast as it could, sharpening his senses and urging him on further, and it had been doing so since the first gunshot had went off near his feet.

With the plain grey industrial door that you would see on the walls of an alley way on the back of business nearing, Locke came to a skidded stop, turning sharply with a slightly unbalanced grace to him to face Kanon.

"I'm going in, follow me on my signal and keep an eye out behind us." he said in a breathy hushed voice. After reaching into his jacket, he pulled out the gun that was concealed under his arm. He then turned to the door and pressed against the handle. When that didn't work, he pulled on it and still couldn't get it open.

"Well..." he sighed. "After I get the door open." He reached back into his jacket, putting the gun back and then reached for the pack that was installed in a spot that rested against his hip bone. From there, he removed the lock-pick device- a small, screwdriver base sized, black mechanism with a lid on top of it. Locke pulled the lid off and stuck it into the key hole.

A soft whir sound came from the device and after a couple of seconds, it stopped and the lock made a click. He pushed on the handle, finding that it would open before pulling the device away from the lock, stuffing it back into the pocket it belonged in and whisked out his gun.

"Clear." he whispered after entering and shuffling down the hallway. The corridor went only one way and that was to the right.

She kept herself standing while Locke picked open the door, still checking behind them in case any enemies were lurking. After the door clicked open, and Locke slipped inside, Kanon hesitantly followed, stepping as quietly as her boots would allow her.
