The warm twist in his gut simmered down and deflated, giving way to a cool wave that washed over Montgomery. Talk of business always halted his desire to test the waters between him and Eoin, the safe mutual territory of co-worker always finding its way into their conversation like a solid wall. Montgomery was too much of a gentleman to force past it.
The news did peak his interest though and Montgomery had to tip his head back and roll his shoulders. Mentally admitting defeat as he settled back into his role as boss and took a deep breath ignoring the tempting smell of gun grease and Eoin.
“Tally’s never skimped on us before Eoin, is it possible the error is on the other end of the line?” Montgomery gripped his left wrist, fingers sliding under his loose cuffs to scratch at his skin while he thought. “What are we missing exactly?”
