Life had been awkward for JD since that fight. Everything about his life had been surprisingly turned on its’ heel. Getting dressed was even a chore as he couldn’t manage a belt. Tying his shoes was no longer an option. Writing was impossible. He couldn’t perform his acrobatics anymore, and his balance was slowly mending but it would be some time.
Of course every morning he woke up and went through his workout routine- altering small things here and there for his new form. Oddly enough it was one of the few actions that involved the least amount of alteration. Every time he went into a pushup his silver eyes saw the ring on his finger, and every time he pushed away his eyes nearly watered. It was an unaskable feat for him to forgive himself. It was an unknowable pain that had ferreted its’ way into heart.
JD hadn’t much left his room since the incident. He hadn’t spoken to a single soul- not his sister, not his girlfriend, and especially not his other friends. What could they say? He honestly didn’t want to hear their pity or their ‘I’m sorry’s- because they weren’t. Humans weren’t that sympathetic. It wasn’t that JD had become suddenly become jaded because it had always existed in him, but he had suffocated it as times had been happier. Eos and he had not led beautifully virginal lives. While they had broken away from their parents they had not been entirely sequestered from the darkness of the world. He couldn’t tell you how many times he had used his power in the name of their continued survival.
Maybe he needed to be more like he had been so long ago.
Maybe that was the only way to move forward.
Yet.
What was there to prove?
JD was in mid crunch when he heard the soft knock on his door. Eos was bringing another dinner. Inevitably he would go out there and pick it up when he was assured that there weren’t any souls lingering about. Of course about that time there was a crackle as the PA system announced that he needed to show up at some meeting. “Eat a dick Guardians,” he grumbled. Yet he paused afterwards and gave it some consideration. JD knew he needed to show his head or they would come looking for them. It would be easier to squirrel away as long as they knew he was alive and functioning.
So he stood- it took a long moment but he managed- and dragged a shirt over his body. He straightened it, and glanced over to the empty arm hole on the right. This emptiness was only made more apparent by the hoodie that he slid on afterwards. He would have to ask Eos to tie the excess up for him. Still he wasn’t so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t hear a knock and then the low rumble of a conversation right outside his door. Someone was talking- and one of those voices sounded like Silver’s.
‘Malinda’
That was odd- he was a hundred percent sure her name was Silver.
‘That’s an interesting accessory… what is it, Malinda?’
‘A-Ah, um, it was a gift, from… A very c-close friend of mine you see.’
Was she speaking of the bracelet he had given her? Or was there something else on her form that this odd man was commenting on. There was only one way to find out- JD figured- and that was to open the door. He whipped it open about that time and stepped out- gingerly steeping over the food that Eos left. Those eyes scanned Silver and his usually bright face contorted into a deep frown. He knew that Silver wasn't one for over accessorizing, and there on her wrist was the bracelet he had given her. Sadly enough he had been right.
“Close friend? Duly noted.” With that he stormed past her- and towards the conference room.
It was no surprise that Silver wanted nothing from him anymore- he wasn’t gorgeous anymore, and he sure as hell wasn’t mentally fit anymore to be there for her. More so JD knew that he had spent the entire time cloistered away from everyone, and had expected there to be some resentment in that. If she wanted to just call him a ‘close friend’ and be done with it- well then it was done.
Inevitably in his broiling rage he ended up in the conference room and glanced about- not announcing his entrance or otherwise making a show of his arrival. Instead he just took a seat and pulled the hood down across his face.
